Beshbarmag

Beshbarmag (passing through) in translation “five fingers” - is located in the region of mountains called Khizi, the distance from the capital is 104 kilometers, not far from the coast of the Caspian Sea. The people also known as Mount Hydyr Zinda is a place of pilgrimage. This mountain has a wonderful shape, which attracts foreign tourists from all over the world. Outwardly, it looks like a hand with five fingers raised up. The holy place “Pir Hydyr Zundzha” is located at the foot of Mount Beshbarmag, where travelers stop to perform prayers and worship.

Guba is one of the largest cities of Guba region in Azerbaijan, located 168 kilometers from Baku. The city lies on the north-eastern slopes of Mount Shahdag, at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, on the right bank of the Kudial River. This is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. GubaQuba is especially attractive in spring when its numerous gardens and parks flourish. Quite a lot of historical monuments are located in and around Guba. Of the architectural attractions of the city, numerous mosques that have survived to our time deserve special attention;also House of the Guba Khan, medieval baths, a fortress of the 15th century. Guba is a famous center of carpet weaving. In the local museum of local lore, in addition to various objects of material culture, you can also see skillfully made Guba carpets.

Red Village

 Red Village or  Girmyzy Gasaba is a small settlement in the northeastern part of the Greater Caucasus MountaiRed Villagen Range of the Guba region of Azerbaijan, located on the left bank of the Kudial River, inhabited mainly by mountain Jews. The convenient location of the village on the big trade road, the patronage of the Guba khans, the fertile land, which allowed them to engage in agriculture, contributed to the prosperity of Village. In addition to farming, the locals were engaged in gardening and carpet weaving. The local apples are famous throughout the district and carpet weaving has become the hallmark of the region. Red VillageThe preservation and development of the traditions of Orthodox Judaism are inextricably linked with the life of the community of mountain Jews. There are 7 synagogues in the village. After three hundred years, Red Village not only survived but also acquired the significance of a state monument with a rich history and heritage, to which numerous tourists come from all over the world. Red Village is recognized as a center for the development and preservation of the material and spiritual culture of the mountain Jews in Azerbaijan and beyond. It is not by chance that this settlement is called the “Jerusalem of the Caucasus”.

Sakina Khanum Mosque

It was built in the 1850s by Sakina-Khanum, the widow of Abbas-Kuli-aga BakikhanovSakina Khanum Mosque, to perpetuate the memory of her husband. Bakikhanov, who lived for a long time in Guba, was a military man by main profession, but is better known as a historian and writer, one of the founders of Azerbaijani literature. The construction can hit its monumentality. It is built of red brick and looks like a faceted cylinder. In each wall-face is a window in the form of a semicircular arch. The top of the facade is surrounded by the original eaves, lined with small bricks. From above, this stately building is crowned with a large white metal dome resembling a helmet and also decorated with numerous facets. The top of the dome is decorated with an elegant thin spire.

Juma MosqueJuma Mosque

The Friday mosque of red brick was built in 1802. By architecture, it differs from other mosques of the Lip and is an octagonal prism, inside there is one large hall surmounted by a huge dome measuring 16 meters in diameter. Near the mosque a huge minaret.

 

 

Genocide Memorial Complex

The memorial complex was erected in memory of the tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis who were victims of mass killings,Genocide Memorial Complex which the Bolshevik-Armenian armed formations staged on Azerbaijani soil in 1918. In the memorial complex, which was built next to a mass grave discovered in Quba, a museum was created with a rich exposition based on historical documents and facts. Genocide Memorial ComplexThe exposition of the monument-museum reflects the history of the genocide of the population of five districts of Baku province - Baku, Shamakhi, Guba, Javad and Gekchai from March to July 1918. The exposition consists of 19 sections. It begins with photographs reflecting a peaceful life in Guba on the eve of the events of 1918. There are photographs showing the life of the old Guba, the peaceful coexistence of representatives of the Azerbaijani, Lezghin, Jewish and other peoples, people from different social backgrounds. On the territory of the museum complex there is an information center, a rich library, a computer-equipped reading room. On the territory of the complex raised the national flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Afurdja Falls

Afurdja FallsAfurdja is the highest waterfall in Azerbaijan. The height of the waterfall is 30 m. The waterfall is overthrown from a cliff with a height of about 30 meters. Afurdja Waterfall begins in the mountains and the silver ribbon goes into the gorge. Translated into English  Afurdja means a place where water splashes fall. Afurdja Falls is listed in the  Monuments of the Nature of Azerbaijan.
