Museum "Friendship of Peoples"

The museum has a large number of exhibits of interest to tourists, reflecting the ancient history and cultural heritage of both the Khachmaz region and the country as a whole. Currently, about 5,000 exhibits have been collected here, more than 2,000 of which are on display, and 2,800 are stored in museum funds. During archaeological expeditions in the territory of the Khachmaz region, 28 ancient mounds belonging to the ancient Türks, about 4 thousand years old, were discovered.

In the halls of the museum you can see the earthenware jug dating back to the 1st millennium BC, discovered during excavations in the village of Ledzhet, Khachmaz district.

Among the exhibits of the museum are also a bronze tip, bone needles, stone tools, clay jugs of the 1st century BC-1st century AD related to the Albanian period of history, clay ritual object of the Zoroastrian period, copper dishes, a large number of clay products VI-V centuries., Faience ware XII-XIII centuries, etc.

 

Museum A. Aliyev

Mausoleum of Sheikh Yusif

Мавзолей Шейх ЮсифаSheikh Movlana Yusif was a prominent philosopher and head of the sect, who lived and worked in the XVth century on the Mushkur Plain. The mausoleum is located in the village of Shikhlar in the Khachmaz region of Azerbaijan. The structure is built of square burnt bricks. Already from afar you can see its unusual silhouette, having the shape of a prism: the facade of the mausoleum is decorated with large antae - a kind of ledges along the walls, creating the impression of “deep doors”. These protrusions are interconnected by high arched vaults. The main such arch forms a deep portal, without any frills in decoration, leading to the premises of the mausoleum. On the tombstone of one of them is written: “This is the grave of the late Muhammad Ali, the son of Movlan Sheikh Yusif. Eight hundred and sixth year ”(1403-1404 year). For some time, the couple Ibrahimhalil and Umsalamad had to experience a lot to preserve and protect this mausoleum. For this reason, Ibrahimkhalil was exiled to Siberia in 1937, and his property was confiscated. However, his descendants continued to rebuild the monument. His grandson Aflatun Mammadov, with the help of residents, built a tomb here. The grandson of Sheikh Yusif Teyyub Seyyed Hajibala oghlu in 1986 restored the mausoleum.
